Our current apartment is fabulous - we love it. Unfortunately, though, it is tiny. With only 1BR and 600 square feet, it would be tough to accommodate our expanding family. Maybe we could make it work - but our neighbors wouldn't be too excited about the wailing newborn on the other side of the thin walls. And thus, the house hunt began. With Adam starting a job in a new city in the near future, we thought it made sense to go ahead and relocate. He can make the commute while finishing his second degree.
We found a great realtor team and started looking at houses in several different neighborhoods in the city. By mid March we were ready to make our first offer. The house was in a fun neighborhood: we were encouraged by the jogging strollers on porches and the coffee shop around the corner. In our heads, we knew the first offer would not amount to a contract, but admittedly, in our hearts we held out hope. The rejection was still disheartening. Alas, the search continued and we made offer number two a couple of weeks later. Again, we had high hopes and sad rejection.
After another few weeks, we confirmed that simple life lesson . . . don't burn bridges. As it turned out, the owners of the first house were now interested and asked us to resubmit our first offer. I was cautious but secretly thrilled. We made a few changes and ended up with a contract for less than we originally offered! The house hunt was over and the closing process began...
