WCS Baby Shower

Had a very fun cookout/baby shower at my office today. The weather was perfect, the burgers and homemade strawberry ice cream delicious, and the presents too cute!

Check out the impressive Diaper Cake and the precious knit hat.

Law School Graduation

CONGRATULATIONS ADAM

On Sunday, May 18th, Adam graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law. He has worked so hard and accomplished so much over the past 3 years and I could not be more proud of him.

My First Mother's Day

When I got home from work on Friday afternoon, Adam surprised me with a lovely arrangement of blue hydrangeas. He also told me we were going to the Market on Saturday morning for me to pick out a necklace of my choice from one of my favorite vendors. Every time we go to the Market I look at the jewelry at this one booth and ooh and ahh and I have even bought a gift or two for others but never for myself. Turns out the vendor was having a Mother's Day special so I ended up with two necklaces. What a thoughtful gift from daddy and son.

Birmingham Baby Shower

Some very sweet friends threw a baby shower for me today. We had ice cream sundaes on a Sunday afternoon - very yummy! I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed catching up with friends I hadn't seen in many months.

There were a couple of "activities" at the shower that were especially touching. Because we will be delivering the baby so far away from many of our family and friends, they gave me a "Blessings Box" of cards and notes for us to take with us to the hospital to read after delivery. How thoughtful! Everyone at the shower also surrounded me in a circle and prayed for Adam, the baby, and me - for a continued healthy pregnancy, for a safe labor and delivery, and for the wisdom and strength we will need once we are parents. Such a blessing to have so many prayers surrounding us during this exciting time!

There have been many little things over the past seven months that have made the fact that we are having a baby feel real. At the baby shower today, we played the game where everyone tears off how many squares of toilet paper they think it would take to wrap around the pregnant belly. The 'little thing' that struck me today was that it was my pregnant belly they measured after everyone else had torn off their guesses. I think my mom tore off the most squares - but some sweet friends erred on the low side!

graduweddiversary

We headed to Destin, Forida for many celebrations... our 4th anniversary, the wedding of some dear friends, Adam's graduation from law school, and our last vacation pre-baby. We enjoyed sitting on the beach...eating plenty of shrimp and seafood...and lots of relaxation.
