Actually, Adam snapped all of the photos. Can you tell?
We added to our garden this year. In the past we had 3 square boxes and one long box along the back fence. This year we added two more rectangle patches, but we didn't get around to adding the boxes, just tilled and planted.
These two new patches have a lot of sunflowers and zinnias. And...
...a cucumber teepee. Adam was on a walk in the neighborhood with the boys and saw someone's crepe myrtle clippings tossed in the alley. So, we scavenged them and turned them into a teepee for the cucumbers to grow on. Carter likes to sit in the teepee too.
The cucumbers seem to like it so far.
Some of our zinnias are close to opening too...
Moving on to the back boxes...
The long box along the back of the fence has LOTS of tomatoes (early girls, cherry, tomatillo, yellow, zebra!) and okra and some peppers.
The box above is mainly our herb box with sage, parsley, thyme, onions. There is also some strawberries and zucchini in the back.
More 'maters and some squash in this box. With some sort of flower that returned from last year. Don't remember what it is. Will have to wait and see when it blooms.
And take a look at our fig tree...
We planted it in March 2009 and it has really really grown this year. It has lots of fruit on it this year too. Need to find a good fig preserve recipe. :)
Our four new gardenia bushes in the front yard surprisingly produced blooms this year. Here they are just before they opened. They are beautiful and smell fantastic when we walk out the front door.
And our hydrangea bushes (although ALWAYS thirsty) are blooming too.
Most of them are pink/lavendar, but we have one blue bloom - my favorite!
So there you have it! Lots growing around here!
It's only appropriate that a Green (Lovelady) should have a green thumb.
