Guess where we went today...

I'll give you a hint:

You guessed it...the State Fair.

The boys were thrilled. Not because they had any idea what do expect. Because neither of them have been to a fair before. But I think our excitement made them excited. A good reminder that parents can totally set the mood with their mood...good or bad.

We started out by taking in the sites...

And the boys didn't waste any time asking to go on the rides. After checking some of the ticket requirements for each ride and multiplying that by 2 we quickly set the 3 ride limit. Each boy got to choose 3 rides...thankfully they chose the same 3 rides. :)

They first went on a jeep type road ride. Next up was a "playground"/obstacle coarse. And finally...Dumbo!

As soon as Ben got off of Dumbo he said "Ben ride race car now". But our 3 rides were done so we headed off to get some lunch.

We brought PB&Honey sandwiches...but had to add some butterfly chips!

We wandered the fair grounds a bit more...

Took in the art contest...cooking contest...textile contest...

And we picked up a booklet of winning recipes from last year. Can't wait to try some of them out.

Next up was the livestock arenas...

Sweet sleeping baby pigs...

And you can't leave the fair without some cotton candy...right?

We let the boys play one game...they chose fishing. It was a "guaranteed win" kind of game and they both chose a new ball. Much more practical for our household than a stuffed toy.

And once the little boys got to play...I encouraged the big boy to take a turn at the baseball game...he had quite a throw. :)

After strolling through the fairgrounds a bit more...we found a few more fun photo ops...

And the boys got to play in a helicopter. Carter flew to outer space when he was in the driver seat.

And then it was definitely time to head home.

We got home much later than I planned...and way past nap time. We put Ben in his crib for some "rest" time with books since it was closer to dinner than when his nap time usually starts.

Well...it got quiet up there pretty fast. I think we all had a great but exhausting time at the fair!
